The Mosser Hotel Review

Based on location, customer service, amenities, and a lower price point,  The Mosser is a decent accommodation in San Francisco.  

Really, the Mosser’s location on 4th street between Market and Mission can’t be beat; it’s in downtown, so it’s a short walk to my work and centered in the retail hub of the city. Not to mention that two movie theaters (Metreon and Century Westfield) are no more than a 5 minute walk from the front door (and that’s if you walk slow).

The Mosser staff was eager to please and their effort to do their best for you was genuine.

Though The Mosser is a  small hotel with cozy rooms, it’s staff, well-designed layout, and reasonable price makes The Mosser a choice option for those budget travelers looking for a well-situated downtown hotel with modern furnishings, a friendly staff, for under $200.

The Mosser Hotel Review Details:

The Mosser (website), 54 4th St, San Francisco, CA 94103

• Summary: A centrally-located, cozy, modern hotel travelers with a moderate budget will enjoy.

• The Rate: I paid approximately $150/night for the Deluxe Queen via Hotels.com

• The Room: The “regular” room was small yet efficient. Cozy, and not the way real estate agents use the word. Despite it’s size, my room was well thought out and the custom furniture was designed with the limited space in mind. I was in room #724 which had a great view of Fourth street.

• The Service: One of the best customer service experiences I had. It wasn’t just the front desk, valet, bellhops, or just a couple contacts, but everyone was very friendly and eager to help.

• The Amenities: The Mosser provided free Wi-Fi that I had no problems connecting to. They offered complimentary muffins, coffee, and San Francisco Chronicle in the lobby from 7-10 AM. Iron, ironing board, hair dryer.

• Extra Touch: In addition to the normal bathroom amenities, the Mosser provided free toothpaste. I’ve only been in one other hotel that has stocks the room was toothpaste. The Mosser also holds a “Wine-Down” on Fridays from 5-6 PM where they do wine-tasting in the lobby.
• If You’re Going to Force Me to Complain: If you choose to valet your car ($39 with in/out), The Mosser wants a 30 minute notice to retrieve your car. My waiting time over the three days were approximately 40 minutes, 30 minutes, and 20 minutes, so averages out to be exactly 30 minutes during my stay. Not ideal if you’re in a rush, but the 30 minutes wasn’t a number I haven’t heard in the past.

* My review is based off my personal preferences. I don’t have expectations to be treated like a king or to be upgraded to a suite. However, the hotel must be centrally-located with well-laid out rooms, free (and painless) wireless, clean sheets, friendly service, all at a reasonable price (even though my work pays for it). Those are the details I find the most important. Take that into consideration when weighing my review.
