Puma is coming back to New York City and opening a three-level Flagship retail location on Fifth Avenue expensive retail strip. If you’re a Puma fan then you remember that late 2018, the company secured a lease at 609 Fifth Avenue
With 24,000-square-foot, the German sportswear storefront will be housed in the SL Green Realty building on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 49th Street opposite Saks Fifth Avenue with 160 feet of wraparound frontage and will have a Grand Opening on Thursday, August 29th, 2019. In a news statement after the company announced the new location, the CEO of Puma Bjørn Gulden said
“For the past several years Puma has been focused on becoming the fastest sports brand in the world and we feel now is the perfect time to show the world who we are. We are very pleased to begin our partnership with SL Green at 609 Fifth Avenue, and we are going to build an engaging brand experience that we will all be very proud of.”
Puma previously had retail storefronts in Manhattan; one in Union Square located at 22 Union Square W closed in 2011, and another in the SoHo district on 521 Broadway. the Soho store closed in 2013. The Grand Opening will have live DJs, giveaways, special guest appearances and what they’re calling a PUMA Hustle Zone featuring fun activities like run club, shadowboxing, dance workshops, skills tests, and more.
