If you’ve ever been to one of Susanne Bartsch’s parties, you know that you’re going to see some high-fashion lewks, club kids in creative outfits and other stylish nightlife characters decked out in over-the-top couture.
Knowing that, it’s no surprise that Bartsch has been tabbed by the upcoming CHENG fashion brand to model their new 2019 collection. Started by Taiwanese designer Cheng-Huai Chuang, CHENG has created looks pop stars like Cardi B, Lady Gaga to Zara Larsson.
And this isn’t the first time that Bartsch has crossed over into the fashion world; having worked and inspired other big fashion names like Jean Paul Gaultier, BCALLA, and the Blonds. More about the collection from Paper Mag here:
Known for her over-the-top, flashy style complete with ample embellishments, beads, and sequins, the collection features a brazen set of looks that are undeniably fabulous and club-ready. Not only that, but according to the press release, other influences for CHENG’s collection include artists like Richard Lindner and Andy Warhol, as well as the aesthetics of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.
“I love drag queens, big hair, big eyelashes, big jewelry” Chuang told Paper Mag back in 2017. “But I don’t want all my designs to be over the top. I still want to create clothing that people will wear. I still want them to feel young and fresh, and at the same time feel the glamour and fantasy. I try to keep a balance. You don’t always need to go all the way to experience the fantasy.”
Here’s a couple pieces from CHENGS new fall collection modeled by Bartsch in what looks like a glowing Asian metropolis/Chinatown in the background below:
