Scene by Scene: 34 awesome GIFs from Avengers: Infinity War

So it’s over a month since Avengers: Infinity War was released — do I need to say that this post contains spoilers? You’re here to look at GIFs of the movie, so I assume you’ve seen it?  If not, then you’re weird and this post contains SPOILERS

Based on my favorite comic book limited series ‘The Infinity Gauntlet’ from 1991, I was extremely anxious to see how ‘Infinity War’ would translate on film and whether the writers and directors would be able to successfully juggle dozens of characters and multiple story threads.

Fast forward a month after the release I still can’t stop thinking of the movie. Needless to say I loved the Avengers: Infinity War. It surpassed my expectations. As of this post, I’ve seen Avengers: Infinity War in the theatres four times — this from someone that never watched any movie in the theatre more than once.

Avengers Infinity War GIFs

I will probably see the movie again in the theater. Until then, I’ll just play these 20 Infinity War GIFs that I got from Tumblr, Giphy, reddit and other means. The following GIFs are presented in chronological order as they happened in the movie. Enjoy.

Marvel Studios Flipbook Intro: We start out with the Marvel Studios intro/opening which features the flipping of the pages of a comic book as panels flash on the screen then brings in MCU’s primary characters. Doesn’t it give you chills? Here’s a higher-res GIF.  After Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, Ant Man, etc. all appear in dramatic fashion, the intro ends with the Marvel Studios logo. Here’s the full video of the opening.

Opening Scene: Thanos Decimates Asgardians, Loki, and Hulk

Loki Offers Up the Space Stone: Right after Thor: Ragnorok, the Asgardians find themselves up against Thanos. After presumably destroying half of the remaining Asgardians, Thanos and his Black Order boards the ship that carries Thor, Loki and Heimdall to get the Space Stone.

Thanos picks up Thor and gives Loki an ultimatum as he literally uses his newly-obtained Power Stone on Thor’s face causing the God of Thunder a lot of pain. Loki eventually offers up the Tesseract that houses the Space Stone to Thanos.

Thanos and Black Order Use Space Stone: After laying waste to Heimdall, Loki and Asgardian stragglers, Thanos and the Black Order now have the Space Stone and the Power stone. With two stones, Thanos commands his Black Order to obtain the two Infinity Stones that are on Earth. With the newly-obtained Space stone, Thanos and the Black Order teleports off the Asgardian ship before it blows.

Avengers: Infinity War Opening: After the first scene it definitely sets the tone and the next opening is introduces Avengers Infinity War; 2 hours and 35+ more minutes of awessssomeee.

Scene 2: Banner, Black Order Lands in New York City

Bruce Banner Crashes into Sanctum Sanctorum Playing the role that Silver Surfer did in the comic books, Bruce Banner is the cosmic messenger (after being sent to Earth by Heimdall’s Bi-Frost), he explains to Dr. Strange, Wong and Tony Stark his run in with Thanos and the Black Order.

Wong Explains the Infinity Stones:  Wong and Strange then explain to Banner and Stark the power of the Infinity Stones in the Sanctum Sanctorum. Strange, Wong Banner and Stark don’t have much time to digest the stones or the oncoming threat as Ebony Maw and the Cull Obsidian land in New York City.

Peter Parker’s Spider Sense On a bus headed to a field trip in the Bronx, Peter Parker’s spider sense goes off triggering the hairs on the arm to stand up. He looks out the window to notice one of Thanos’ donut ships hovering over Manhattan.

Iron Man Approaches Ebony Maw: Back to the foursome in the Lower East Side of New York City. They face off with the two Black Order. After Banner can’t turn into the Hulk as the Cull Obsidian approaches. Tony steps up and shows off his new nanotechnology-powered Iron Man suit he got from Wakanda.

After battling all throughout the Lower East Side and Central Park, Cull Obsidian is transported to Antarctica by Wong and Ebony Maw successfully kidnaps Doctor Strange. The Maw transports Strange up to his ship. Iron Man and Spiderman give chase.

The Iron Spider: After Peter Parker / Spiderman joins the battle with Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf, Strange is taken and transported onto Maw’s spaceship as Iron Man and Parker chase. Stark deploys 17A a special suit created for Parker. That special suit is the Iron Spider exoskeleton.

Scene 3: Meet the Guardians of the Galaxy

One of the film’s biggest receptions was the introduction of the Guardians of the Galaxy. We see a the Guardians’ spaceship in “SPACE” — with the Starlord, Gamora, Draw, Rocket, Groot and Mantis heading toward a distress signal.

With the Spinner’s Rubberband Man  playing, we first see Peter Quill / Star-Lord singing along.

Thor Meets Guardians:When the Guardians arrive to the distress call, they see the results of the carnage Thanos and his Black Order. The aftermath of the Asgardian ships and population having been destroyed, the Guardians see nothing but bodies and rubble floating when Thor suddenly hits the Guardian’s windshield.

The Guardians bring Thor onto the ship; examine him, admire him (featuring the “He is not a dude, you’re a dude, this is a man.”) which makes Quill jealous. After some chatter, Quill frustratingly tells Mantis to wake him up using her powers.

This next GIF one of the least spoiler-ist of scenes. Everyone’s seen this scene, but it’s so beloved that I had to include it here. Once Thor gathers himself he turns around and asks “Who the hell are you guys?”  *Though very similar, the GIF you see below is the one from the trailer and different than the the shot we seen in the movie itself.

Scene 4: Scarlet Witch, Vision and a Silhouette in Scotland

Corvus Glaive Drills for Vision’s Mind Stone With Maw and Obsidian after the Time Stone in Manhattan, Glaive and Proxima Midnight make a visit to Scotland to obtain the Mind Stone from Vision. A surprise attack by the two Black Order members injures Vision long enough for them to attempt to pry the Mind Stone from his head.

Scarlet Witch takes on Proxima Midnight: Wanda and Viz are offline from the Avengers and trying to figure out their lives together in Scotland. While there, they’re attacked and beaten down by Proxima Midnight and Corvius Glave. The final face off between Wanda and Proxima happens underground. When a subway train passes by, Midnight notices something in the shadows….

Whose that Silhouette? Just as Proxima Midnight is about to throw her spear at Scarlet Witch, she notices a silhouette in the shadows. She instead throws her spear at the shadow…. as we know it’s Steve Rogers / Captain America. Obviously the crowd loved this scene too.

Black Widow Attacks Corvus Glaive / Falcon and Captain America Join the Battle:The two scenes above are from the same battle in which Black Widow and Falcon also make their first appearance in the movie.

Scene 5: A Promise Between Gamora and Starlord (and an Imperceptible Drax)

Gamora and Peter Quill Share a Moment:  Realizing that she holds one of the keys to the universe’s fate, Gamora convinces Starlord to kill her if she happens to be captured by Thanos. Quill relents and they share a moment, only to be interrupted by Drax, who has been watching the two for an hour.

Drax Reveals Himself (Or Does He?): Starlord asks Drax “Dude, how long have you been standing there?” to which  “An hour,” Drax responds “I’ve mastered the ability to stand incredibly still that I’ve become invisible.”

Drax Continues to Explain His Imperceptibility: While eating a zorg nut, Drax tries to sell his new invisibility power: “So slow… it’s imperceptible… I’m sure of it” until Mantis walks in and waves “Hi Drax!” One of the funnier scenes in the movie. You can see the creepily-hilarious scene here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymlLxFAHyt8

Scene 6: Ebony Maw Torture Dr. Strange and That Really Old Movie

Ebony Maw Tortures Doctor Strange: Back on Ebony Maw’s spaceship, we see the Maw torturing Strange with some sort of cosmic acupuncture. Since Abony Maw realizes that if he kills Strange, he wouldn’t be able to break the protective spell Strange has placed on the Eye of Agamotto (Time Stone), so the Maw is trying to convince  the sorcerer to willingly give up the Time Stone.

Iron Man vs. Ebony Maw part II: With a plan based on a “really old movie Aliens” Iron Man confronts Ebony Maw.

Ebony Maw Shows Off His Powers: Unimpressed by Iron Man’s presence, Maw shows off his powers saying “You’ve saved nothing, your powers are inconsequential compared to mine…” as he controls pieces of his ship with his hands.

Okay I admit that I missed out on some scenes or mixed a couple small things up, but I’m going off memory,  so cut me some slack (and let me know where I messed up in the comments).

You’re right if you realized that this is only about 40% of the film, but that’s all we got for you right now. We’ve got another 30 25 Infinity War GIFs representing the next several scenes in the movie that we plan on posting in a couple days. Hopefully the scene GIFs above will hold you over until thenclick here for part two.
