Converse is always innovating on their classic Chuck Taylor All-Stars. Recently, they tried ghosting their classic shoe template by creating some iridescent, somewhat transparent Converse All-Stars, but Converse’s Japanese branch is taking the see-through Converse design to the next level.
The All-Star Light Clear Material Hi displays the company’s duo of tall silhouettes that are completely transparent thanks to tonal polyurethane uppers — in pink and clear. Though the texture and material are different, the clear version of the All-Star Clear Material Hi-Tops remind us of the final pair from Virgil Abloh’s ‘The Ten’ collaboration with Converse back in 2017.

Like the All-Star Clear Material, that one also featured a see-thru white upper and the “clear” soles are more of the ice blue colorway we saw in that GHOSTING series. In any case, we are really digging the new transparent kicks — they really give off an ethereal feel.
Both the pink and clear transparent colorways of the All-Star Light Clear Material Hi will drop into Converse Japan’s site and Japanese retail stores next month — sometime in July 2019.
